I Got Hit By A Car
Hey everybody!!
This week was a lot of fun, and the food has definitely gotten much better! I already feel like I'm adjusting and things seem to be going pretty well!
Some pretty interesting things have happened this week. I'll start off with probably the best.
As you can tell from the subject line... I got hit by a car hahaha. Don't worry though the car isn't hurt and I'm not either. It was honestly so funny. Here's what happened. In England they use a lot of roundabouts, and they drive on the left side of the road. So we were walking home from the chapel and we had to cross the roundabout. And there was nobody on the road. So we get to where we are supposed to cross and there's a car coming from our side of the road that was going to come right by us. So we stopped and waited. Well since there's no cars on the road we figure that the car will just roll through right? The car gets to where we are supposed to cross and still looks like it will just roll through and keep going. So Sister Anderson and I start walking right when the car comes up to where we are. The car did not, however, roll through. It slammed on its breaks and stopped. So I walked right into the back of the car. I didn't even say anything. I just like rolled off of the car. So I'm not injured or anything, it was just funny. And everybody would probably say that I hit a car, but it's a lot funner to say that I got hit by a car.
We have a buddy that we named Chet. He's a creepy stalker dude. The other day I was doing my hair while Sister Anderson was in the shower, and this man walked by our flat and just stared at me. He walked past it then turned around and just stood outside my window for a solid minute. He stood and walked in circles then walked directly away from my flat then turned around at a wall and looked back at me. Then he went another way. Then guess what after that. He came back! Walked past the flat and turned around and came again. Each time he just stares through the window. So then Sister Anderson gets out of the shower, and I tell her everything that happened. Then he decides to come back. So that's creepy... 5 different times? And we were planning on doing most things at the chapel today because it's warm there. So we called the elders and they told us to stay in the flat until they could come get us. While we were on the phone with them the guy came back. So yeah that was kinda scary. Nothing really happened, it was just very very strange that he came and walked slowly by our flat looking in 6 different times. Little suspicious if you ask me. The senior missionary told us that we have to keep our curtains up all day. So... now we just won't know if he comes back lol.
So yeah Harborne has been quite a joy haha. Definitely some interesting people. Our ward is super cool though! Members like to bring us food on Sunday so that is very kind of them.
As far as missionary work, things seem to be moving kind of slowly. So many people cancel our meetings the day of and people dont respond. So hopefully we can get out and actually see them. The hard thing now is that there is the new variant and people do not want any contact with the outside world... yay. Hopefully we can come up with something.
We had two Thanksgiving dinners this week and both of them were really yummy! One we had with the elders' friend Ryan. They have never had Thanksgiving but he wanted to feed us so it was really a Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner. Anyways it was really good! They have a weird tradition where they pop something and paper crowns come out and then you wear them for dinner.
Oof I just read through this and it will probably sound like it's rough. I'm having so much fun and I'm learning so much. I'm loving my trainer and we get along well. I'm actually very safe, and people know about what is going on, so they are here to help. No need to worry! I'll try to include lots of happy things for the next email
Love and miss you all very much! Have fun decorating for Christmas!
1. It snowed, and it's freezing here.
2. The elders took this picture of us walking because they have the bus app and it took forever for Sister Anderson to get the app approved. So we got to walk a lot.
3. Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner with Ryan and his friends
